Greenlink Launches Electronic Ticketing

Greenlink has launched a new electronic ticketing system called TouchPass that allows customers to pay their bus fare using a reloadable smart card or a smartphone app. TouchPass simplifies the boarding process as Greenlink passengers no longer need to have cash or coins on hand, worry about lost transfer tickets or search for their 20-ride punch pass.

As an added benefit, customers can freeze their account if they lose their TouchPass card and then transfer their account balance to a new card. Customers can also utilize an auto-load feature to replenish their account whenever it drops below a certain balance.

According to Gary Shepard, Greenlink’s public transportation director, adding an electronic fare payment system is about providing more options for Greenlink customers. “Millennials and Generation Z are more likely to use their smartphone for transactions and are quick to adopt new technology. While Greenlink will continue to accept cash and coins on our buses, providing more options could help attract new transit riders. Additionally, we hope the TouchPass system opens the door for future fare products such as 30-day passes,” said Shepard.

Greenlink customers can download the TouchPass app by searching for “TouchPass Transit” in the iOS or Android app store. Customers who would prefer the reloadable smart card can pick one up at the dispatch booth inside the Transit Center at 100 W McBee Ave. Balances can be loaded onto customer accounts by visiting www.TouchPass.com and paying with a credit or debit card, or by visiting the dispatch booth and purchasing fares using cash, credit or debit cards.
