- Construction Engineering
Construction Engineering manages the City's capital improvement projects, performs inspections on a variety of private construction projects, inspects and helps coordinate work on City infrastructure projects and issues encroachment permits. The division also investigates residents' concerns related to construction, land disturbance and erosion control, and works with other City departments to solve potential problems.
The City issues encroachment permits to authorize a variety of work within the public right- of-way, including construction projects, utility connections and maintenance activities. The City issues general encroachment permits to authorize work in the right-of-way or allow the use or blockage of the right-of-way. The City issues formal encroachment permits to allow a portion of a structure or a component attached to a structure to be built under, in or over public right-of-way. Construction Engineering also investigates complaints associated with work performed in the right-of-way.
Land Disturbance Permit
Construction Engineering performs inspections on all sites under construction to ensure that site work performed is in compliance with the approved plan, meets federal and state regulations and meets current City design guidelines and construction standards.
Capital Project Inspection
Construction Engineering assists with the inspection of all City infrastructure improvement projects, including construction of recreation facilities, parks, streets, bridges, storm drains, sewer mains, utilities and sidewalks.
Construction Engineering also manages some of the City's construction projects, including sidewalk repairs.
Sediment and Erosion Control
Construction Engineering inspects all work sites with land disturbance permits
during construction to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations concerning sediment and erosion control. Construction Engineering also responds to citizen complaints associated with construction-related sediment and erosion control issues.
