Meet the Supervisors
Brandy Mays Johnson
DAVID HELLAMS COMMUNITY CENTER
"I really believe that this this is the heart of the community.
"For a whole year, we didn't get to see our children due to COVID. Their presence now, the life they bring into the building, is growing.
"It’s rewarding seeing physical change in their own social skills and in their development as little people.
"I've actually been here to do after school with parents and now their children. I hope to see more parent participation, or adult participation, here at the community center."
Octavia Jones
NICHOLTOWN COMMUNITY CENTER
"A lot of times you get a lifetime of memories when you're able to participate in a program. You get memories that you can't buy with money. You just get a lot of lifetime memories that I think that will go with the person forever.
"I like knowing that I'm coming in to be a help or service or provide a program to somebody that can be helpful, useful or be an inspiration.
"With the transition of the neighborhood, we have a lot of new neighbors moving in. I hope they all realize the value that the community center can offer in some of the programs that they offer and not only be a part of, but if you have a skill that you like to offer, we can talk and maybe we can offer that."

BOBBY PEARSE COMMUNITY CENTER
"A community center represents a way for that specific community to have a representation of their culture, their values, the different principles that they have together.
"For me to be able to have an opportunity to be a part of that is really humbling and so awesome.
"I enjoy watching kids grow into their own. I like learning their personalities, their character, seeing how they associate with one another and just interact and create like a team where they're able to have that support system that they need as they develop."
Katrina Wofford
WEST GREENVILLE COMMUNITY CENTER
"I say today’s story can be different from tomorrow’s story.
"When the kids arrive from school, it’s a whole new day.
"I get to hear how their day went, their stories, what happened. It’s a highlight.
"In this center, you have a place in the community, from infants on up to seniors, that is a site where the community can come and find resources available to get the things that they need or the help that they need."
