Summer Camp Counselor

We are now hiring summer camp counselors to assist in various activities for our summer camp.

Super Summer Camp

Schedule: June 3 to August 2 | Mondays - Fridays | Staff hours vary (camp goes from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Job Summary: Under supervision of year-round staff, responsible for planning, leading and implementing core and non-core programs and experiences for children in a small group setting. Responsible for the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of group participants. Assists in maintaining the interior and exterior of the facility. Assists with summer program lunches and snacks served daily.

 Description:  This position incorporates a variety of duties including, but not limited to the following:

  • Assist with Summer Camp programming
    • Assist with writing and implementing a weekly schedule for camp group
    • Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week
    • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues
    • Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter
    • Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Camp Leadership
    • Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation and daily attendance
    • Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp program
    • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas, including but not limited to being responsible for the campers’ safety and whereabouts at all times
  • Assist with Community Center food programs
    • Assist with the set-up, serving and clean-up of the summer lunch and snack program
    • Participate in food safety program and comply with food safety guidelines
  • Maintain the upkeep of the building/grounds
    • Inspect and maintain the exterior and interior of the building facility to maintain a safe environment for all campers
    • Remove trash from the playground and campus grounds
    • Sweep and mop floors as needed
    • Wipe down tables and put tables and chairs up each day

 Salary:  $15.00 per hour, paid through temporary staffing service

 Requirements: 

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma required
  • Preferred one year experience in Recreation
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • Heavy lifting; up to 50 lbs
  • Reliable transportation
  • First Aid and CPR certified within first week of employment (training provided)
